The story of how the Xmas 2001 compilation came to be...
I made my first Xmas compilation cassette in 1989. I actually began planing one in 1988, but that one, which was extremely Industrial, never materialized. The 1989 Xmas compilation tape was the first in a long line of Xmas compilations, made over the past dozen years, that featured a variety of musical genres and moods, with strong Christmas spirit and holiday sentiment. The majority of the tape compilations were recorded on 60 minute cassettes from various sources (vinyl, tape & CD). This 2001 Xmas collection is the first to be burned from CDs to CD-R! With the assistance of Aikea & Deya I have culled the cream of the crop, and present one of the finest collections of progressive holiday classics ever assembled, in my humble opinion! I spent days listening to every appropriate Christmas CD in my collection (ignoring the weird and the humorous ones... those will form the content of a subsequent Xmas compilation) and composed a long list of the best songs, and then meticulously sculpted them down into the ideal running order. Even though a maximum capacity CD-R of 80 minutes was used, many songs had to be omitted due to time limitations, so only the absolute best made the final cut! A lot of tender loving care (and a bit of obsession) went into making this compilation, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I loved compiling it. With love & light...
